Hi, I’m Theresa
I’m dedicated to providing compassionate, whole-person care for young people and families. Together we make goals, and I support them with tools for wellness.
I love working with youth of all ages, from toddlers to young adults. I also enjoy working with adults with special needs.
I founded Table Talk Psych so I could provide high-quality, individualized, holistic care to my patients. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to get to know them, listen to their stories, connect, and help them grow.
My Approach
My Philosophy on Medicine.
Less medicine is better. Together, we find the right medicine.
Medicine is just one tool. I also work with my clients to simplify medication regimens when appropriate.
I listen to my clientsto make the best choices in medication management.
What I Do.
My job is to get to know you, find out what’s hard for you, put a name to it, and see how I can help.
I work with clients and their families to connect them with resources, therapies, and supports. I encourage and guide them in working with educators, counselors, mentors, therapists, psychologists, and other community supports. I give information about services and make personalized referrals, and I enjoy collaborating with their care team.
My Experience.
I have more than 20 years of experience as a youth educator, mentor, and mental health care provider.
I first graduated from the University of Tennessee College Scholars Program in 2008 with a focus in Biological Chemistry, Holistic Health, and Hispanic Studies. I taught high school with Teach for America, where I came to know the impact of the right learning supports.
While in my 20’s, I also worked as a medical Spanish interpreter, doula, and teen mentor. Through my experiences, I learned about the benefits of whole body and mind coping strategies.
I graduated from UT again in 2013 with my bachelors of science in nursing. As a nurse, I worked in leadership roles and direct patient care in inpatient psychiatry at Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital and at Virginia Baptist Hospital.
In 2021, I graduated from the University of Virginia and became a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I have enjoyed my experiences as a prescriber working at Centra Autism Center from 2021-2024 and F. Read Hopkins Pediatrics from 2024-2026. I am privileged to have worked alongside experts in the field of psychology, psychiatry, developmental pediatrics, behavioral analytics, speech language pathology, occupational therapy, and general pediatric medicine. I continue to collaborate with former colleagues and other healthcare professionalsin the greater Lynchburg area.
I’m an avid learner and strive to stay up to date with the best treatment modalities. I’m a mom, and my children are always my best teachers.
